VICTORIA FALLS

An iconic destination, Victoria Falls showcases the largest uninterrupted sheet of falling water in the world.

Why Visit

The Victoria Falls remains one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world, aptly described by its nickname “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – meaning the smoke that thunders. This World Heritage Site is almost 2km wide and over 100m high, is halfway along the mighty Zambezi River and straddles two countries – Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Victoria Falls is the town on the Zimbabwean side and Livingstone is on the Zambian side, both have international airports and well established tourism facilities and services.

The highest water level is between April to June, while this is impressive to see, and hear, it does make visibility limited with the amount of spray that is churned up. During the lowest water level months from October to December the geological formation of the Falls is clearly visible and it is possible to visit Livingstone Island and swim in Devil’s Pool.

What To See

  • A guided tour of the Falls where knowledgeable guides will share stories and interesting facts about the history, wildlife and geology of the Falls
  • A Zambezi Sunset Cruise
  • Enjoy an aerial view of Victoria Falls on a “Flight of Angels” helicopter flight or a micro light flight over the Falls
  • Bungee jump or do a bridge swing or slide from the historical Victoria Falls Bridge
  • White water rafting and/or river boarding (most exciting during the low water months)
  • Canoeing on the Upper Zambezi River
  • Horse riding, hiking and fishing are also possible
  • Game drives in the Private Game Reserves and National Parks
  • Full day safaris in Chobe National Park in neighbouring Botswana
